Geologic Strata beneath Big Spring Valley
Dad kept records on the Gas Wells as they were being drilled. Included in his records was a detailed geology depth report of Gohl #1 Well.
7ft to Limestone, 85ft to Water, 130ft to Good Water, 185ft to five-foot cave, 300ft put it 70 bags Cement, 580ft hit some Water (not much), 885ft to Black Shale, 977ft out of Blake Shale (total layer 92ft), 1100ft approximately to Sulfer Water, 1175 final depth.

Timeline of a Well installation from 1997
Dad kept records on the Gas Well dig beside the Bunger house driveway.
Drilling started on Monday Sep22 1997, finishing on Friday Sep26. Casing was installed on Monday Sep29, continued with cement, et cetera through Friday Oct03. On Monday Oct06 drill crew shot holes in Casing. The morning of Tuesday Oct07 they pumped in Acid, and pump out the later that evening. On Wednesday Oct08, crew would pump and swab out small pipe. They was no gas. Truck stayed through Oct15 at which time crew pulled small pipe and left.
Big "Frack" equipment was bring in to tank and haul water on the evening of Nov10. The following morning at 11AM, fracking of the well commences. Late that evening, crew set the rig and pumped out. On Wednesday, Nov12, crew set small pipe and swabbed well. Dad noted "200# on casing, 60# on pipe. Leave." Finally, Dad notes that crew "Put in succor rod on Thursday Dec18. David Rule said he thought well would produce 300,000 to 500,000 CF/Month. Ron test on well over Christmas and New Year."
